The 15-Minute Daily Guitar Warm-up Routine

Consistent 15-minute daily practice yields significantly better finger speed and muscle memory than a single 3-hour weekend marathon session. A warm-up preps your tendons, prevents injury, and syncs your fretting hand with your picking hand.

1. Minute 0-5: The Spider Crawl (Chromatic Drill)

On fret 5 of the low E string, play frets 5-6-7-8 using fingers 1-2-3-4 cleanly with alternate picking (Down-Up-Down-Up). Move across all 6 strings, then shift down to fret 4 and return.

2. Minute 5-10: String-Skipping & Hammer-ons

Pick fret 5 to fret 7 on string 6, then skip string 5 and play frets 5-7 on string 4. This builds spatial awareness across non-adjacent strings.

3. Minute 10-15: Metronome Speed Ladder

Set the GuitarPractice Player Metronome to 70 BPM. Play 8th note subdivisions for 1 minute, then step up by +5 BPM until you hit your daily threshold.
