Welcome to GuitarPractice (accessible at guitarpractice.cc), a free, web-based interactive tool built for guitarists, music students, and educators.
1. The Story Behind the Project
GuitarPractice was created as an independent labor of love by a solo software developer and guitarist. I wanted a fast, lightweight practice tool that opens instantly in any browser without needing app downloads, account creation, or paid subscriptions.
Whether you're practicing pentatonic scale runs, looping rhythm backing tracks, or visualizing guitar chords, GuitarPractice is designed to keep you focused on playing music.
2. Audio Engineering & Physical Modeling
Instead of playing back pre-recorded static audio samples, GuitarPractice uses real-time mathematical audio synthesis inside your browser:
- Karplus-Strong Algorithm: Plucked guitar string timbres are generated on-the-fly using standard HTML5
AudioContextring buffers and fractional feedback filters. - Sub-Millisecond Response: Instant playback latency under 2ms for responsive metronome clicks and guitar plucks.
- Equal-Tempered Tuning Engine: Accurate pitch frequency calculations covering standard guitar tunings (MIDI note range 40 to 64).
- Interactive Song Studio: Visual fingerings, custom song arrangements, and real-time tempo adjustments.
3. Independent & Privacy-First Philosophy
As a solo developer, I prioritize user privacy and clean software design:
- Zero Mandatory Accounts: No registration, passwords, or personal data collection required.
- 100% Client-Side Storage: All your custom song arrangements and tempo preferences remain saved locally on your device via browser
localStorage. - Clean Web Standards: Lightweight code designed for high performance on both desktop and mobile devices.
4. Get in Touch
